| The name Jelisa is a combination of my sister's name, Jessica, and mine, Darlisa (short i as in Melissa) which is a parental compromise between Darlene and Lisa. Jess and I use jelisa and jelisa-j in various art forums.
I live just south of Houston, Texas; Jessica is currently in Mississippi attending Pearl River Community College; our parents live in Alabama where we were raised; one sister, Darlene, lives in Mississippi with her husband and four wonderful boys (Jessica is there with her); and a third sister, Jennifer, lives in Austin with her husband. Our family is of Polish, Jewish, & French descent on my mother's side and German, Irish, & Cherokee descent on my father's side. I work on the International Space Station as a Technical Services Specialist on the Avionics & Software, Software Product Delivery Team. Before that, I was an Information Specialist (fancy for word processor). I worked on requirements specifications using Interleaf and the RTM database (Requirements & Traceability Management from Integrated Chipware) and did the team training and tutorials for Ileaf & RTM. I have used Interleaf for 14 years and RTM for 9.5 years. I also built and maintained the Requirements Team website. Resume here. In December 1998, I was honored by my team mates and attended the launch of the first U.S. pieces of the Space Station, the Node 1 and Pressurized Mating Adapters (called Unity), on flight STS-88. I took Jessica with me for her 20th birthday. If you'd like to read a bit about our interests (hobbies, etc.), just click on one of the links below. You can also view my resume. |
