Title Bar Menus
This page describes the Title Bar Menus. As you move to each section of
the tutorial, I'll explain each button and how to use them.
| When you open a new scene, this is the main
menu panel (placement differs depending on screen size). We'll start
with the main window menus & buttons. |
 |
| Starting at the bottom of the panel, first
we have the name of the file then the exit button and four pull-down
menus. |

|
| Edit Menu: |
File -> Scene -> New - loads a new scene.
File -> Scene -> Load - brings up a browser window so you
can load the scene of your choice.
File -> Scene -> Save - saves the current scene, if you have
not already renamed the default scene, a browser window comes up allowing you to
rename and save the scene.
File -> Scene -> Save As - brings up a browser window
allowing you to save the scene under a new name.
Load Object - brings up a browser window allowing you to locate an
object and load it into the scene; you can load objects in the following
formats: *.cob, *.asc, *.3ds, *.prj, *. dxf, *.lwb, *.geo, *.obj, *.iob,
*.sob, *.ai, *.ps, and *.eps.
Save Object - saves the current object, if you have not already
saved the object under a name, a browser window comes up allowing you to
name and save the object; you can save the object in the following formats
- *.cob, *.asc, *.dxf, and *.can.
Save Object As - brings up a browser window allowing you to save
the object under a new name and to choose the save format.
Preferences - brings up the preferences menu (see next row).
Exit - Exits trueSpace. |
| Preferences Menu: |
Dynapick (Dynamic Pick) - When enabled, you can
select any object and manipulate it using the current selected tool
without having to let up on the mouse button; when disabled, you must
select the object by clicking on it, then click and hold a second time to
manipulate it (my default is disabled).
OrthoNav - When enabled, the left button controls horizontal and
vertical navigation (front & left views); when disabled the left
button controls horizontal navigation and the right button controls
vertical navigation (front & left views).
LoadScene - when enabled, loads the last view saved or loaded when
you last exited tS (if enabled when you previously quit).
Thold - Determines the maximum redraw time (in milliseconds) before
the objects are drawn with bounding boxes while they are being manipulated
(simplifies process and shortens redraw time); the lower the number then
sooner it uses bounding boxes.
TopMenu - When enabled, puts the menus at the top of the screen.
Mine is disable by default since I seem to work near the bottom of the
screen most of the time and having the menus at the bottom makes them
easier to access.
Titles - When enabled, panels have the typical Windows title and
drag bars and can be closed by clicking on the close box; if there is no
title bar on a panel, close it by right-click-holding on a blank area of
the panel and dragging off the panel, release the button and the panel
will close.
SaveState - When enabled, the state of your tS window is saved and
when you start the program again, everything is loaded just as you left
it; when disabled, the scene is opened in the tS default mode - no open
panels or loaded objects.
Tablet - allows tablets to be used with tS; see the tS2 help file
for help on this.
Scene Detail - left-click hold to choose how the objects in the
scene are redrawn (see next row).
Default Lights - left-click hold to choose colored or white lights.
