Exporting the dynamic hair from Poser is actually quite easy, just be prepared for what it looks like in Bryce. You won't like it and besides, the mesh size might be more than your system can handle. But, if you insist ...

  • Export your figure with the hair attached

  • Open the obj file in a text editor and replace "l " (small "L" + space) with "f " (small "F" + space)

  • This will also replace any references to the mtl file so fix that next

  • Replace "mtf" with "mtl"

  • Save the obj file and import into Bryce

  • Here's what it will look like:

  • Transparency you say? Well, you can create a UV map and make your own. You'll have to export the hair and body separately to do that though. You can also create a generic trans map and apply it to each piece, changing the XYZ coordinates to make it work for each piece.

  • Of course, those hair styles that are in the libraries won't change, so one UV map can be made for them and used over again, but new UV maps will have to be made for each new hair style.

  • Unless someone comes up with a better way .... any thoughts?

Information on doing this for the Treemaker Easter Egg found at the Poser Forum Online, in a message posted on 15 August 2000. Do a search on "treemaker" to find it.
